IDENTITIES speaks Greek: news from the Crete network

The IDENTITIES research team at the University of Crete has recently taken part in several activities of dissemination of the core concept of the project and of the advancements in the design of modules for pre-service teacher education.

“IDENTITIES”: Current issues of Science and Technology

The first dissemination activity took place on 2019, December 14th at the University of Crete in Rethymno. The purpose of the activity was to present the nature and the goals of “IDENTITIES” to in-service teachers and other stakeholders of Crete. Twenty seven teachers of all grades participated in the event. Initially, we presented them the main axes and goals of the program and we discussed about interdisciplinary approaches in STEM disciplines. Subsequently, we focused on advanced STEM topics such as Nanotechnology and we analyzed their inherent interdisciplinary nature.

ESERA VDN 2020 (Online) (Presentation & Poster)

The design process of the O2 module on Nanoscience & Nanotechnology (NST) was presented in the ESERA VDN 2020 (online summer school for PhD students in the field of science education) in both presentation and poster format. The researcher discussed with other colleagues from all around Europe the methodology implemented regarding the design of NST module as well as aspects of data analysis.

11th Greek Conference for Science in Early Childhood Education

 The IDENTITIES project was presented in the 11th Greek Conference for Science in Early Childhood Education (online, 6th – 8th November 2020) in the context of a presentation regarding how teachers design teaching modules on STEM advanced topics. Teacher educators, primary and secondary in service teachers as well as Greek researchers in the field of science education discussed about the potentialities and constraints of teaching  interdisciplinary STEM topics.
